One thing I love about leather is how much versatility there is to it. Up until now I had only ever been tooling leather, but I happened to pick up some oil tanned leather (usually I use vegetable tan), and I thought I could handle making plain things with it. I could not.
Everything I make is always embellished, it's just part of who I am. So after a little experimentation I realized I could do pyrography on the oil tanned leather. I'm pretty happy with the result, I've even started to experiment with it on the vegetable tan as well. One thing I really like about this process is how much easier it is on my hands than traditional tooling.
